maintain the seaworthiness of the vessel at all time.

1.Maintain
and update documentation :
Documentation under 2nd engineer
responsibility which requires maintaining and updating are as follows :
1. Daily record book
2. Machinery maintenance record book
3. Defect and repair list
4. Major spares inventory
5. Oil record book
6. FFA and LSA record book
7. Saturday routine book
8. Engine room look book
9. Updating of PMS
10. Stores and ROB
2.Engine
room management :
1. Personally responsible to C/E
2. Ensure engine room is properly manned
3. Proper distribution of jobs
4. Clear briefing done before a job is carried out
5. Ensure all engineer and crew practice safe working procedure and wears safety gears at all time
6. Guidance and proper training of juniors
7. Ensure everyone understands the consequence of pollution
3.Engine
room house keeping :
1. Ensure E/R is maintained in clean, painted & sanitary condition
2. Ensure all tools & stores are kept safely & designated location
3. Secure all heavy items at all times
4. All leaks & damages are attended ASAP
5. Bilge, garbage and sewage management as per regulation
4.Safety
of E/R and ship :
1. Ensure all engineers know the location of LSA & FFA
2. All emergency escape routes are clearly marked and obstruction free
3. Maintenance of all FFA & LSA under 2/E responsibility
5.Carry
out Saturday routine :
1. Testing of emergency fire pump
2. Emergency generator and emergency air bottle
3. Life boat engine
4. Flap and ventilation
5. CO2 bottle (links, secured & key location)
6. Testing of fire detectors
7. Testing of E/R fire detectors, extinguishers
8. Check the funnel flap
9. Remote operated fire doors
10. Hydrants & nozzles in engine room
11. BA set life lines & fireman’s outfit in E/R
12. All E/R ship side v/v operation
6.Machinery
maintenance :
2. Proper round check at all time
3. Safe operation of all machinery on board
4. PMS jobs to be carried out
5. Attend to all major repair work
6. Keep track of all defects and repair required
7. Able to manage any other emergency repairs outside PMS
